The NBA was ready for Duke phenom Zion Williamson to make an impact in the league. So much so, the team that drafted him, the New Orleans Pelicans, received a ton of nationally televised games. Then the unfortunate happened, Williamson went down with a knee injury.
Now, there may be a debut for the star forward this month. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports the Pelicans are aiming for Zion to suit up in January. “I’m told both sides are hopeful of a January season debut for (Zion) Williamson,” Charania said.
Williamson tore his meniscus in October, which led to surgery. Recovery was set for 6 to 8 weeks but Zion has yet to make his return. Fans have been able to catch him in warm-ups.
